The UK ISO LWS instrument information, documentation and software
web pages.
The UK ISO Data Centre is part of the consortium responsible for
LWS, a spectrometer operating between 43 and 197 microns. LWS had a grating
mode (resolving power 200) and a Fabry-Perot mode (resolving power 10000).
ISO had four scientific instruments on board, one of which was LWS, and
it made observations of specified astronomical objects. The observations
were processed using OLP (Off-Line Processing) software and are accessible via
the ISO Data Archive. In addition, LWS operated parallel mode observing
(taking data while another instrument was operating) and serendipity mode
observing (taking data while ISO slewed from one object to the next).
The LWS instrument team, via the UKIDC, is responsible for:
ISO LWS data are analysed using ISAP (ISO Spectral Analysis Package). Users can interactively reprocess their data using the LIA (LWS Interactive Analyis) package before doing the data analysis using ISAP. For more information about ISAP, go to the ISAP page. For more information about LIA, go to the LIA page. To obtain Version 10.2 of LIA (released on 1 September 2003), go to the LIAv10.2 page. Information about the LWS Consortium For more information about the instrument itself, look on the ISO Guided Tour page.
